Kevin has been a professional bassist for over twenty years and in that time has gigged and recorded with some of the best musicians and soloists around. From the finest of the British jazz scene, working with the likes of singer Clare Teal and legendary saxophonist Pete King, to recording with musicians as diverse as The Levellers and award-winning Korean pianist Ingrid Wu as well as numerous BBC radio and television sessions, he’s played over 4000 live performances, appearing all over the world from Brussels to Broadway.
In 2004 Kevin was appointed Head of Bass Studies for AMS; a group of eight music academies across the country, regularly visiting each giving master-classes to the bass students who study either a two year Btec course or a full time BA Honours Degree course, both of which were (to edexcel specification) written and developed by Kevin, including all compositions, transcriptions and adaptations of music for bass. He’s also taught at Kevics School in Devon and Dartington College of Arts. Alongside this, Kevin has been featured in a series of bass tuition DVDs, and writes regularly for Bass Guitar Magazine. He’s also written numerous magazine articles on contemporary bass playing for ‘Play’ and ‘Reverb’ magazines.
